You are My Sunshine

“You are my sunshine!”  I think that is a great little thing that everyone wants to hear from someone else every once in a while.  Here is a very yellow project to celebrate the Rainbow Blog Hop 2014!

I painted this wooden ring that I think is supposed to be for making wreaths with the Sun Yellow Dual Paint and Primer.  While it was drying in my makeshift spray paint setup, I decided to make it int0 a sun.

I gave it a few coats of paint and my lesson was that with the lighter colors, an extra coat is a good thing for best coverage.  When it was totally dry, I traced the inside of it onto a square piece of cork with a Sharpie then cut it out leaving about 1/2 inch extra all the way around to glue to the base.

Then I cut lots of yellow ribbon into 7 inch long (or so) pieces and use my super heavy duty Adtech glue gun to glue them to the back of the painted wooden circle.  I then looped them and glued again.  When they were all looped and glued, I added the cork with the Adtech gun.

When I flipped it back over I added my “Sunshine Yellow” buttons from Buttons Galore scattered all over with hot glue.  Then added a wire handle with a hand painted polka-dotted bead.

Lastly, I added a little message that I lettered and colored with my markers.

Then I hung it up!  It adds a bright touch to the room for sure.

Check out these other awesome projects in all of the colors of the rainbow.
